Using Metaphors

Introduction

For almost the entire evolution of the human race we have communicated by sharing stories. Within these stories we find metaphoric elements. Stories or metaphors shape how we learn, communicate and help us discover new ways of looking at life.

Through verbal stories that hold symbolic representations, we are able to form new magical associations from ordinary common elements and this changes how we view ourselves and our past experiences. We often get drawn to the mirror of the story as it reflects our own experiences.

A great metaphor weaves its magic and indicates an outcome that allows us to view our own experiences in a new or novel way. Many of us experience unique events in our lives, however most of these are re-occurring stories that others have experienced from the beginning of time.

In this course we explore these stories by looking into and covering some of the most fundamental stress patterns that we have experienced, and often hold onto. It introduces metaphors that we can share with our clients so they can create new associations, a new understanding of what they are trying to let go of along their journeys. Once they understand that their pain is not so unique it is easier to let go.

Using Acupressure

In this course we integrate the use of acupressure with these stories. Many acupressure points have been found to be very useful when working with spiritual or psychological issues. This course uses points that have been found to be helpful at dissolving the same patterns that we are taking the client through by sharing the stories with them. By taking the client through a story, which fundamentally shares the same stress pattern as what the client needs to dissolve, and at the same time holding acupressure points, the stress patterns dissolve.

It is a powerful way of allowing clients to reflect, gain new insights, and dissolve their stress patterns. In the field of acupressure research there is evidence that when acupressure points are held for longer than 12-15 minutes the sympathetic nervous system is down-regulated and this allows the client to enter a deeper healing state. This is ideal as some of the stories will take 15 minutes or more.

In MAC 2 the points that have been chosen are on a psychological level related to the chakra that is most relates to the story.

Working with Chakras

In this course we integrate the use of working with the chakra system along with these stories. Many chakras relate to fundamental concepts, which are used in the stories. In this course we balance chakras, which have been found to be helpful at dissolving the same patterns that we are taking the client through, by sharing the stories with them. By taking the client through the story, which fundamentally shares the same stress pattern as what they need to dissolve, and at the same time working with the chakras helps to dissolve the stress patterns.

Within this course associations for the chakras is included. This includes nerve plexus, organs, glands and muscles. How much of this a practitioner activates prior to working with the chakra depends on what they know. It is not the purpose of this course to teach the specific muscles.

Passive-Active Reset

This is a technique that utilizes eye modes and allows the brain to re-set and often dissolve stress patterns that have been locked in different processing patterns. First, we identify which eye mode is stressful. This is done by:

Step 1 ask the client to look into different directions and testing the indicator muscle (IM) for an indicator change (IC).

Step 2 ask the client to close their eyes and look into the direction you have identified. We gently place our thumbs or fingers on the client eyelids and push further into the direction that they are looking into.

Step 3 hold this position for 30 seconds. If there are no eye movements stop, and the process is finished (or can be repeated if more than one eye mode direction was identified).

Step 4 If the client’s eyes start to move rapidly (often called rapid eye movements) hold the position until the eyes stop moving (this may be significantly longer than 30 seconds).

Step 5: If there was more than one eye direction identified repeat the process.

After taking the client through the appropriate metaphor and discussing it with them for understanding you can choose to continue with passive-active reset.
