Deficiency comes when the body’s energy is depleted by long-term illness or excessive work or stress. It produces moderate symptoms – aches rather than pain and symptoms that occur or worsen when the person is more tired.

The deficient patient has a weak voice, shallow breath, sweats slightly, wants to curl up, has dull, lingering pain that is alleviated by pressure, is listless and apathetic. They tend to be slow, lack intensity, find it difficult to be motivated, and are more likely to have a victim mentality.
