Rhomboid Major

Origin: Spinous process of the 2nd to 5th thoracic vertebrae

Insertion: Medial border of the scapula from the spine to the inferior border

Action: adducts and slightly elevates the medial border, lower fibres aid in rotating the glenoid cavity inferiorly.

Rhomboid Minor;

Origin: Ligamentum nuchae, spinous process of C7, T1

Insertion: Medial border of the scapula at the base of the spine of the scapula

Action: Adducts and slightly elevates the scapula

Monitoring

Position: Sitting up, scapula retracted and upper arm adducted to the posterior of the body, elbow is bent.

Rotation: None

Stabilise: Same side shoulder

Monitor: Monitor the inner side of the upper arm directly away from the body, observing the scapula for any protraction from the spine.

Corrections

ASSOCIATIONS:

Nerve Supply: Dorsal scapula, C4-5

Visceral Nerves:

Sympathetic: L1, L2, L3

Parasympathetic: Vagus X, S2

Neuro-Lymphatic Reflex:

Anterior: Bilateral anterolateral from hip to knee

Posterior: Bilateral region between L1, L4 &PSIS.

Neuro-Vascular Reflex: Bilateral parietal eminences-posterior aspect.

Yuan point: LI4

Nutrition: Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Vit. D, iron.
