Origin: Spinous process of the 6th to 12th thoracic vertebrae

Insertion: Tubercle at the apex of the spine of the scapula.

Action: stabilization, depression and rotation of the scapula,

Monitoring

Position: Lying prone with the arm held 45° superior to the shoulder, with the arm elevated and scapula retracted.

Rotation: Thumb pointing directly upwards

Stabilise: Opposite hip

Monitor: Monitor the arm in a downward direction, observing the scapula for movement away from the spine

ASSOCIATIONS:

Nerve Supply: Spinal accessory and ventral ramus - C2-C4

Visceral Nerves:

Sympathetic: L1, L2, L3

Parasympathetic: Vagus X, S2

Neuro-Lymphatic Reflex:

Anterior: Bilateral anterolateral from hip to knee

Posterior: Bilateral region between L1, L4 &PSIS.

Neuro-Vascular Reflex: Bilateral parietal eminences-posterior aspect.

Yuan point: LI4
