Muscle

Origin: Spinous processes of first through fifth thoracic vertebrae.

Insertion: Medial margin of acromion and superior border of spine of scapula.

Action: Adduction and slight elevation of the scapula.

Monitoring

Position: Supine abduct the arm 90° at the shoulder.

Rotation: Externally rotate the arm so the palm is facing toward the head

Stabilise: Support front of same shoulder.

Monitor: Apply pressure to the forearm directly anterior.

Corrections

ASSOCIATIONS:

Nerve Supply: Spinal portion of accessory nerve XI and ventral ramus - C2, C3, C4

Visceral Nerves:

Sympathetic: L1, L2, L3

Parasympathetic: Vagus X, S2

Neuro-Lymphatic Reflex:

Anterior: Bilateral anterolateral from hip to knee

Posterior: Bilateral region between L1, L4 &PSIS.

Neuro-Vascular Reflex: Bilateral parietal eminences-posterior aspect.

Yuan point: LI4

Nutrition: Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Vit. D, iron.
